Luke 15:11-32 (Parable of the Prodigal Son)

This most famous parable is not really about the lost, younger son...and by extension, wayward sinners needing to repent. It's not even about the dutiful, older son...and by extension religious folks needing to accept sinners. Jesus reveals God's compassionate heart for us all. Our reckless living is confronted with God's reckless loving. Our humiliating self-righteousness meets God's humiliating self-sacrifice. God's long-suffering love for us all finds us, brings us back to life, and invites us to celebrate!
